Student Research Professional Development!
- Don't know where to begin working with your students for independent research?
- Don't have time to add anything to your curriculum?
- Don't understand the rules for Science Fairs?
- you want your students to do scientific research as part of their graduation project but aren't sure how this aligns with the requirements??
Plan to attend one of the two professional development days offered by the State Science Fair of NC at The Science House on Centennial Campus at NC State University!
- Grades 3-8 on Monday, July 21, 2008 (This workshop is full!)
- Grades 9-12 on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 (This workshop is full!)
Both days will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Participants will receive
- $50 travel and expense stipend
- Lunch and parking pass
- 6 contact hours (0.6 CEU)
The professional development for science teachers will target
- Using scientific research in standard course of study science classes to meet North Carolina Standard Course of Study Goals and Objectives.
- Planning your classroom to encourage student research
- Incorporating 21st century skills and technology tools into instruction
- Developing student writing and presentation skills.
- How to help students meet guidelines for entry into the local, regional, and state science fairs as well as other competitions.
To register please fill in the registration form below. Registered teachers will receive a parking pass and instructions in the mail. Advance registration required by July 3rd and limited to the first 24 registrations for each workshop.

Both workshops are full and have waiting lists. We will look for additional days to have more workshops because of the demand. Those on waiting lists will receive first notification and preference for those workshops and then registration will be opened for other teachers.
