The Brain: Understanding Neurobiology Through the Study of Addiction

Rx for Science Literacy is partnering with the Wake Forest School of Medicine to present The Brain: Understanding Neurobiology Through the Study of Addiction, a one-day workshop on Wednesday, April 1, from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. at the Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C.

This workshop is based on a curriculum that addresses the fundamentals of neurobiology, how drugs of abuse change the brain and how drug addiction is a treatable, chronic brain disease.

At Rx for Science Literacy workshops, educators tour research facilities, hear from scientists about their latest research advances and take home a free curriculum and other bioscience education materials. They also receive:

  • 1 unit of certification renewal credit for North Carolina-certified educators (4 hours of additional work required)
  • Free supplemental curriculum and other bioscience education materials to use in the classroom.
  • Free lunch
  • Substitute teacher support (up to $80)
