North Carolina Sea Grant has published a list of educational resources to complement homeschooling during the COVID-19 pandemic. The list includes articles and hands-on activities about coastal flora, fauna and phenomena.
The articles were first published either in N.C. Sea Grant’s flagship magazine, Coastwatch, or on its Currents blog. They cover an array of topics, including common N.C. sharks, maritime forest habitat and ocean tides. Adults may wish to read these pieces to youngsters, while older kids will enjoy perusing the pages on their own.
The new resource page also includes more formal curricula, including a set of lesson plans on marine aquaculture, as well as classic educational activities from the 1970s and 80s.
