Paige Keeley - Keynote Speaker
Page Keeley is an internationally recognized leader in science education, best known for developing the Uncovering Student Ideas in Science series and the Formative Assessment—Practical Strategies Linking Assessment, Instruction, and Learning series (the "FACTs books"). Her pioneering work in understanding student thinking and teaching for conceptual understanding began in 1992, leading to the widespread adoption of her assessment probes and formative assessment techniques by educators globally. Today, she works as an independent consultant, speaker, and author, providing professional development on science and STEM formative assessment.
Keeley taught middle and high school science for 15 years, during which she was honored with the Presidential Award for Excellence in Secondary Science Teaching (1992) and the Milken National Distinguished Educator Award (1993). In 2008, she was elected the 63rd President of the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA), the world's largest organization of K-12, university, and informal science educators. She has also received numerous awards for her leadership in science education professional development.
Keeley holds a B.S. in Life Sciences/pre-veterinary studies and an M.Ed in Science Education. Beyond her professional achievements, she enjoys travel, photography, equestrian sports, and exploring nature with her four grandchildren. She and her husband reside in Fort Myers, Florida, and spend summers in Wickford, Rhode Island.
